3rd Giveaway of Christmas

I have the wonderful opportunity to not only get to host a fabulous giveaway this week benefits to Sandra over at Foot Loose and Fancy Free. She has the most adorable patterns for your pretty little princess, but I have also had the opportunity to review her wonderful Pillow Case pattern with the underlay.  Sandra has been wonderful to work and with and I hope that everyone gets a chance to check out her many stores on Etsy. If you don't have a sewing machine never fear she also sells her creations finished. I hope you enjoy working with Sandra as much as I have.

On to the review, I had to decide whether or not to do the stylish pillowcase dress or the standard one and I have to say as much as I love the standard pillowcase dress pattern I loved the couture look of the stylish one, so with my little diva I had to whip up and outfit for thanksgiving. We are having friends down for the holiday so I decided to make C's friend Bella a matching dress, they are going to look so cute on thanksgiving.

The pattern is very informative and detailed, not only are there many pictures to follow but Sandra breaks down each option and then has an example picture of each option so if you are visual person you can you can see what the finished project will look like. The versatility of theses wonderful dresses makes them a wonderful compliment in any season in the fall and winter months you can compliment the dress with Sandra's underslip pattern that can be worn by itself or partnered with the dress. I also whipped up Sandra's  "Sew Fun" Skirt. It looks adorable over the UnderSlip .

 So on to the Giveaway....

Sew-A-Long Week 2 BOYS BOYS everywhere

Well it's week 2 of my Sew A Long Challenge, mainly this challenge was a personal one because as we all know in the grand scheme of things, Life always seems to happen. When I go to pick up a pattern, cut some fabric, dust off the machine, some how the day is almost coming to an end, the kiddos are sick or Life Happens. This has been not only a therapeutic journey but a fun one. I have been able to tackle some much needed TO DO lists, and it feels good.

6 week challenge SewHappySewCrafty
So Week 1 the challenge was to create fun an exciting things for a little girl, it could have been anything you wanted to whip. I took this opportunity to have fun with some great fabrics by Debbie Mum, some Random Fall Prints that I had found in my stash and some fun new patterns that I hadn't yet been able to break the seal on. I hope my little Princess likes her new outfits.

This week the Challenge is BOYS BOYS everywhere, I find that when I'm looking for new fun exciting things to sew it either is a girlie pattern, a mommy pattern, or something for my house, kitchen or a new bag. It seems like the Boys in our life get left behind, but this week my goal is to focus on my little man. He hasn't been feeling well lately and what better way to brighten his day than to make him something stitched with Love. I have also been sewing up some Christmas presents that I might give everyone a sneak peep. Stay tuned for the Share A Longs which will start on Mondays since some people need the weekend to catch up. I hope everyone has a great week, and happy sewing.

Duct Tape and Tape Measure = Perfection

So Question of the day... When you see this picture what do you think of........

Do you give up yet.......
Okay... is the suspense killing you ... Duct Tape and a Tape measure actually are some of the greatest inventions ever created... and wouldn't you know that they can be used for more that what we thought. I mean who hasn't used duct tape to do a quick home repair but probably not to sew with... Yes I said sew, and why would I ever use a tape measure other than its purpose. Remember that old saying don't judge a book by its cover well that is exactly what I did... I have to say that after doing this project I will never look at things the same.
I am always on the lookout for great products, patterns, things that make my life simpler as a mom or things that are super crafty that allow me to use my imagination and creative flare. I have to say that I'm so excited to share with you these 2 patterns that I came across today.
A little about the creators over at Stitchin Sisters, it was originally crated by two friends in 2001 as an avenue to minister to women using there combined talents, it eventually became a one woman show as life happens sometimes. The idea behind stitch in sis is that they believe in giving back to others to encourage others thru your talents and helping others thru missions.
Now off to my wonderful finds today here are two of Stitching Sisters Snap Happy Patterns. They are very well written for either the beginner seamstress to the most advanced sewer. The use of Duct Tape, Tape Measure, Needle, thread and fabric come together in these wonderful patterns to make wonderful gifts or keepsakes for families to share.
These are wonderful patterns can you believe you use a tape measure for the closure.
Here is a picture of the bag I thru together today, it took me about an hour and half from start to finish. The instructions are very detailed with many illustrations, and helpful hints throughout to keep you on task.
The inside of the bag opened, it automatically shuts, just pull handles to open bag.

I hope you all enjoy these wonderful patterns as much as I have. Thank you Rosemary

REVIEW Whimsy Couture

Pattern Review

Denise over at Whimsy Couture is bringing the vintage styles that all of us sewing mamma's are falling back in love with. I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with her on a review for an adorable Strappy Dress or Top.

This adorable dress has so many different options from a halter style strap top, to a bubble top or dress, or button straps in the back. The options are endless. When I first received this pattern I wasn't sure what I was going to put together with C's red hair and summer approaching the only thing I could think of was fruit... Maybe I was hungry. Anyways, the thought came to me that with Farmers Markets opening how cute would this top be paired with some matching carpi's. I started out thinking the bubble top....HMMM this is going to be difficult but Denise's pattern is not only easy to understand but is extremely detailed with step by step directions and detailed pictures along the way.

This particular pattern also came with an additional options page with more detailed instructions on sizing for the bubble top, verses the dress and how to alter the pattern accordingly. The instructions were not only easy to understand, but Denise kept in constant contact with me to make sure that i didn't have any questions, and to make sure when printing patterns that I didn't scale the printer settings. She was a joy to work with on this project and has offered a great giveaway to one of my readers stay tuned this week for more details. I can not wait to share this wonderful opportunity with you all my friends and fellow sewing junkies. Stay tuned for more details to come .

Review Trotter Sweet Peas

Pattern Review
I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with Melinda over at Trotter Sweet Peas, she has the most adorable patterns for that little princess in your life. I find myself browsing Etsy, eBay and many other sites when looking for new whimsical patterns for my little one. She is such a diva so I try to not only make items that fit her personality but are also function able. Melinda is awesome she has been such a joy to work with on this review, The e-books came via email within minutes of speaking with her about the review.

The Halter Dress

The Halter Top
The first impression I got from the e-book was not only were they well written, but they were written in a way any level of sewer could understand which is a huge PLUS. My second impression, Melinda takes pride in her e-patterns, because not only were they well written, detailed instructions, but she has multiple photos to explain and show you were you should be each step of the way. This allowed for quick turn around on each pattern. I would highly recommend these patterns for any level of sewer, I have attached a few pictures of the items that I created with these patterns, I was able to do the dress in 2 hours start to finish and the top took me a little under and hour and half.

The Halter Top
This is the Top that I made and paired it with a cute pair of matching capri's, it was so much fun to make and my little Red looked so cute in her Skull Outfit I just love this fabric from Alexander Henry. I'm so pleased with how this outfit turned out.
The Halter Dress I made
This adorable halter style dress was not only easy to make but the directions for adding the double ruffle were so precise and detailed. This dress took me 2 hours from start to finish. I love the Michael Miller fabric that I used.
